In May of 1968 was born one of the most iconic and remembered models of Citroën, the Méhari, and half a century of history has passed since this picturesque car began to circulate in the streets of Paris. To celebrate this important anniversary, the French brand decided to create a unique, very colorful unit of the model that positions itself as its spiritual successor, the Citroën E-Méhari.Citroën and Jean-Charles de Castelbajac have decided to work together to create an ‘Art Car’ based on the new Citroën E-Méhari which has recently reached the brand’s dealerships in Europe. Arnaud Belloni, director of marketing and communication at Citroën, highlighted the current and joyful result thanks to the meeting of “two universes as creative as revolutionary”, Citroën and Jean-Charles de Castelbajac.The whole exterior of the Citroën E-Méhari, with the exception of the protections that use the lower part of the body, was the object of the art of Jean-Charles de Castelbajac. Including the wheels, which in this case were painted blue. The artist wanted to convey an optimistic and pop spirit following an unlimited creativity. It assures to have reflected in its new creation its two reasons to live: the art and the fashion.The classic Citroën Méhari was unveiled on 11 May 1968 at Deauville Golf. Its concept of simple, multipurpose and unpretentious vehicle, made it gain popularity quickly. It was built on the platform of the Dyane 6 and distinguished by its body in ABS plastic, a light material that allowed the Méhari to show a weight of 525 kilos. It was a real ally to enjoy the Mediterranean coast.In the year of 1979 the 4×4 version arrived to the market that allowed to face ramps of up to 60% of difference. Throughout his commercial life he had an important presence in the world of cinema, as well as in different competitions. The Citroën Méhari was produced over 19 years, until 1987, with about 145,000 units manufactured.After more than 25 years of absence, Citroën decided to recover the original concept of Méhari, but adapting it to the new times that run. In December of 2015 the new Citroen E-Méhari was revealed, a 100% electric car of four places and convertible body. The materials in which it is made make it perfect to roam along the coast at any time of the year.Just a few months ago, the Citroën E-Méhari line was renewed with the introduction of new and interesting options, among which a ‘Hard Top’, side windows and a retractable rear quarter glass. The new Citroën SpaceTourer Rip Curl features 17-inch gray color CURVE alloy wheels. 2017 – CITROËN C-AIRCROSS CONCEPT
